Teachers
All teachers are highly qualified native instructors. Not only do they have
a profound understanding of the English language and the correct methods of
delivering it, but they have a high degree of cultural awareness that allows
them to build timeless bonds with their students.
Mohammed Walker (Center Director)
As an American Italian raised in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; I have always been exposed
to multiple languages, thus gaining appreciation for them and the cultures they reflect. In
addition to English, I have also been able to learn Arabic and some Italian. I have further
pursued this interest by gaining a bachelors degree in linguistics giving me further insight
into the dynamics of language. Furthermore, I hold a CELTA, as well as a TEFL certificate I
am also currently a member of the international Toast Master association for public speaking.
Finally, I have just been appointed as the first TESOL trainer in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Idris Abdullah (Academic Director)
I’m an American residing in Jeddah for the past 10 years. My background is enriched by my
travels across the Arab world where I studied with the scholars of Islam and the Arabic language.
I hold a bachelor degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from The American University
of London, and I’ve been teaching for 8 years in Saudi Arabia. I have been married for a year.
I enjoy cooking, traveling, and fashion and I am pleased to be part of the Prince Sultan College English Center.
Menlik Young (Teacher)
If you look up “technophile” in the dictionary, you will find my picture, along with
my name, Menelik S. Young. I love solving problems using computers. When I have spare time,
I teach myself to play guitar using the Internet, searching for various tutorials and guides
on jazz and blues. I consider myself to be an “independent learner” in that I enjoy teaching
myself with the use of any available sources. This is why, as a teacher, my aim is to empower
my students with the tools to teach themselves.
Diego Roma (Teacher)
My name is Diego Roma. I was born in Milan, Italy. I am proud to say that as a child I
was a young traveler. Because of my Italian mother and American father's adventurous nature
I was exposed to a variety of cultures and languages which helped me to understand the difficulties
people face when learning a new language.
As an English teacher I aspire to utilize my experience in Graphic Design, Project Management
and I.T. to find ways to help my students unlock the secret of learning the English language.
One of the things that I strongly believe is that in order to learn a language you have to live it!!!
Umar Abdul Salam, (teacher)
I have been a resident of Jeddah Saudi Arabia since 1998. I studied communications in college
and ran my own production company in New York. I produced, and promoted concerts and disco’s in
New York in the 70’s and early 80’s. I worked for the City of New York as a Housing Inspector,
Quality Assurance Inspector, Purchase Inspector, and Supervisor of Building Maintenance. I
played and coached Basketball in my community for over 20 years.
In Saudi Arabia my career started as the Purchasing Manager for a large company.
I taught English at some of the English language centers before I joined the Arab
News staff as a reporter, and The Ministry of Information’s English Radio Station
which I currently do now. I trained as a Public Speaker in the Jeddah Toastmasters
Clubs and have helped start over 10 clubs in the last 5 years. I am a winner in the
local, district, and regional contests over the years. I spend four days a week teaching
Basketball to kids. When time permits I work out at the gym, play basketball or do martial
arts to stay in shape. I hope I can bring some of these skills to the college.
