INTRODUCTION
Over the past decade business management studies have emerged as one of the most dynamic areas
of study in universities across the globe. This reflects the growing demand of students for more
vocationally management-oriented courses. The increasing emphasis on education for business management
reflects the growing realization that the nation’s prosperity depends on industrial and commercial success.
The present program of management at Prince Sultan College has been designed to give the graduate the
knowledge and skills required to make a major contribution to the challenges of industrial and
commercial management. The management program offers students with a broad education that allows
students to gain in-depth knowledge of various elements within the management perspective to
enable them to manage organizations effectively. The wide range of business courses required
by this curriculum provides a solid knowledge well suited for entry-level positions in many
organizations. The management degree prepares students for careers in industry, government
and other types of organizations as well as creating and managing their own business enterprise.
The management program provides students with knowledge of the various business principles needed
to compete effectively in the competitive environment of today and the future.
OBJECTIVES
The primary educational outcomes for students who major in management include:
- To develop students with knowledge of business and management who will be able to handle successfully the complexity and uncertainty of the contemporary business management;
- Providing a comprehensive introduction to business organization, the various business functions and management techniques;
- Learning how to process business information, its collection, analysis, and presentation; applying
it to problem solving and decision making, thereby enabling students to make an immediate contribution to the challenges of industrial and commercial organizations;
- Competency in both oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, encourage
team-work, and strengthen their analytical and problem solving skills and intellectual abilities;
- An understanding of the role of computers in business and the techniques of management information systems in managerial decision making;
- A knowledge of, and the ability to apply, basic principles of economics, accounting, statistics and finance;
- A knowledge of the basic principles of small business management, venture creation and entrepreneurship;
- A knowledge of the basic principle of management including human resource management,
marketing, international business management, strategic management, and customer service management;
- To provide students with the necessary business management education to prepare them for further studies.
